Namhae Abalone Mulhoe

Namhae Jeonbok Mulhoe is, as its name suggests, a raw fish restaurant specializing in mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). After earning a reputation among locals as a great eatery for its generous portions and fresh food, it now draws so many tourists that waiting in line is essential on weekends. There is a spacious parking lot in front of the restaurant, and the interior is large with group seating, so many group customers come as well. The signature menu is mulhoe. You can choose between abalone mulhoe and fish mulhoe, and since even the broth is made in-house, you can taste its own tangy, deep flavor. The abalone mulhoe is generously filled with large live abalone and packed with seafood such as octopus and sea cucumber. The noodles served with it are naengmyeon rather than somyeon, and the combination of crisp vegetables, tender seafood, and chewy noodles is excellent. There are also menu items such as abalone porridge and hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl).
