Yeongam Wangin Baksa Village
Translation in progress — showing the Korean original for now.
Located at the foot of Wolchulsan in the Geumgang National Park of South Korea, the Yeongam Wangin Baksa area is a village with 2,200 years of history. It is the birthplace of Dr. Wangin, who introduced Chinese characters and Confucianism to Japan, and of Doseon Guksa, the founder of feng shui geography. The entire village, with its traditional tiled houses, old pavilions, and friendly earthen walls, is like a living museum. In Gurim Village within the area, the Gurim Daedonggye has been maintained for over 450 years, and at the Yeongam Pottery Culture Center, the birthplace of siyu pottery located in the center of the village, there are various exhibition tourism experience workshops where tourists can directly experience pottery making combined with education. In the Yeongam Wangin Baksa area, residents (Wangin Village) operate various experience programs, and each of the 100 or so hanok guesthouses has its own unique individual experience program, making it quite different from other experience villages. The biggest characteristic of this village is that Wolchulsan National Park, Wangin Baksa Historic Site, Pottery Culture Center, and other nearby attractions are networked with the Wangin Village Residents' Autonomy Committee to provide traditional and local culture well-being experience programs, and it is counted as a village leading Korea's experience tourism culture.
