Galjungi (Natural Dyeing Experience)

Galjungi is a place that runs everything from persimmon cultivation to the production and sale of galot (persimmon-dyed clothing) and natural dyeing experiences, carrying on the tradition of galot—Jeju's traditional clothing and cultural heritage—across three generations. All production processes are carried out directly on Jeju, at the foot of Sanbangsan in Sagye-ri. Galot is traditional clothing made using persimmons, which are easily obtained on Jeju, and Jeju people have long enjoyed wearing it as everyday wear. It has UV-blocking effects and excellent breathability, and is known as a practical garment with outstanding antibacterial and deodorizing functions. A dolhareubang stands at the entrance, and inside you can examine fabric dyed with persimmon juice. In the lawn at the back, there is an experience yard where persimmon-juice dyeing experiences take place, and you can also purchase bedding and various small items dyed with persimmon juice and mugwort juice, as well as galot.
