Pohang Chimaek Festival (Chicken & Beer)

The Pohang Chicken and Beer Festival is a summer festival held at the Yeongil Bay Sea Pavilion, a major tourist attraction in Pohang. This festival aims to revitalize the local economy and attract tourists, and it operates as a participatory cultural event that welcomes people of all ages. The festival will take place over two days, from August 21st to 22nd, 2026, and will feature a variety of content, including a commemorative ceremony, invited performances, performances involving citizens, an EDM party, a singing competition, and 체험 (experience) programs. The venue will feature zones for selling chicken and beer, as well as water 체험 (experience) zones, art 체험 (experience) zones, and event zones, offering a combination of food, performances, 체험 (experience) activities, and marine tourism. In addition, participatory programs such as "Chimaek Star K," a competition to select the "Chimaek King," and a receipt lottery will be held to encourage greater participation from citizens and tourists. The festival aims to promote nighttime tourism at Yeongil Bay through nighttime performances and EDM programs, and to expand Pohang's summer tourism offerings, thereby enhancing the city's tourism competitiveness and brand value. Ultimately, the goal is to establish the festival as a representative summer tourism event for Pohang and to contribute to the revitalization of the local business district and tourism industry.
