Sejong Dano Festival

Dano falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, and as it is said to be the day when yang energy is at its strongest of the year, it has been handed down as a major holiday in our country since ancient times. The Sejong Cultural Center holds the Sejong Dano Festival every year to widely promote the meaning of Dano and traditional culture, which are gradually being forgotten, and to enjoy it together with citizens.
At this Sejong Dano Festival, a total of 15 diverse experience booths will be operated, including rice cake pounding, washing hands in iris water, making Jangmyeongru hair ties, making iris soap, and natural dyeing of handkerchiefs. In addition, a rich food yard that everyone of all ages can enjoy, such as surichwi rice cakes, omija tea, injeolmi, popcorn, slush, and traditional liquor, will also be prepared.
In the participation yard, where families can join together and make precious memories, and the ssireum yard, a traditional sport representing Dano, adult matches, children's matches, and expert demonstrations will unfold in diverse ways. Along with this, a photo zone and various performance stages blending tradition and modernity will be added, making it a rich festival that all citizens can enjoy and empathize with together.
The Sejong Dano Festival is planned to be held as a meaningful cultural festival that connects generations, shares the value of tradition, and allows people to feel our unique style and excitement.
