Mokpo National Heritage Night

The "2026 Mokpo National Heritage Night Event" is a nighttime cultural heritage utilization event hosted and organized by the Mokpo City Government, with the support of the National Heritage Agency and the Jeollanam-Gwangju Metropolitan Area. The event will be held for three days, from October 30th to November 1st, 2026, at the Mokpo Modern History and Cultural Space. It is a cultural event designed to allow visitors to experience Mokpo's modern history and national heritage at night. The event, subtitled "Modern Times: The Story of Mokpo's Opening, 129 Years," focuses on Mokpo's opening as the first independent port city of the Korean Empire in 1897 and its development into a modern city. Key cultural heritage sites include Modern History Museum Hall 1, Modern History Museum Hall 2, Simsang Elementary School, Gyeongdong Cathedral, and Mokpo Fortress, among other historical locations and architectural landmarks. The event program includes viewing and experiential activities that connect nighttime scenery with cultural heritage, traditional cultural performances, and other performances, all aimed at conveying the historical value of Mokpo's opening history and modern cultural heritage to visitors.
