Donggwang-ri Rural Experience Village

Donggwang-ri Rural Experience Village is a green rural experience village operated in Donggwang-ri, Andeok-myeon. Donggwang Village is located at 200m to 400m above sea level and is a mountain village in the mid-mountainous inland, located on a gentle lava plain on the southwestern slope of Hallasan Mountain. It is surrounded by large and small oreums and forests. This is a village that experienced the pain of the Jeju April 3 Incident, and the remains of the April 3 Incident include a lost village, a marker monument, a large chest that was a refuge for residents, a tomb, and a stone bridge. The experience village remodeled the closed Donggwang branch school and always provides rural experience programs for tourists and Jeju residents. Programs include snow sledding and kite flying, Korean beef raising and pony experience, fern cutting and wildflower observation, stone wall building and dairy cow experience, oreum exploration and flora and fauna exploration, exploration of April 3 historical sites, folk play experience, potato filling and grinding, bamboo archery and bamboo water gun making, and cell phone and key chain making. In addition, a visitor center, lodging facilities, and sports facilities, including a natural grass field, are being used as a venue for various programs. In addition, the Buk Oreum Ecological Park trail was connected to the visitor center so that visitors could climb the mountain and experience the beautiful natural ecology. Buk Oreum, Georin Oreum, and Gotjawal are nearby, and it also has beautiful scenery where you can see Marado Island. In 2016, it was selected as one of the top 10 rural tourism courses recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
