Iksan Somri Culture and Arts Center

Somni Culture and Arts Center in Ma-dong, Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do, is a municipal arts facility built and operated by Iksan City to give its citizens diverse opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts through various performances. A design competition for the center was held in 1992, construction ran from 1994 to 1995, and the center opened in 1996.
Afterwards, the Somri Culture and Arts Center was incorporated in 2016 as a branch of the Iksan Arts Center, which opened in 2015, and the Grand Performance Hall and Small Performance Hall were newly renamed as the Medium Performance Hall and Small Performance Hall of the Iksan Arts Center, respectively. Later, because the name change increased confusion among citizens, the former name Somri Culture and Arts Center was retained, and it is now named Somri Culture and Arts Center, a branch of the Iksan Arts Center. In 2020, the Somri Culture and Arts Center completed about a year of remodeling construction and reopened in October. Major facilities include the Medium Performance Hall, Small Performance Hall, exhibition room, small conference room, and outdoor performance hall.
Reflecting Iksan's forward-looking image in its structure, the hall boasts a grand, sturdy and elegant exterior. Beyond serving as a space for performances and exhibitions, it also functions as a place for citizens to stroll and relax. The hall also runs cultural programs such as performances, exhibitions and literature courses, along with various other cultural events.
